WooCommerce Setup Guide on GoSiteMe

WooCommerce transforms your WordPress site into a full-featured online store. GoSiteMe's optimized hosting ensures fast load times and reliable checkout experiences. This guide walks you through installation, configuration, and launching your first product.

Installing WooCommerce

  1. Ensure WordPress is installed on your GoSiteMe account (see Installing WordPress).
  2. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins → Add New.
  3. Search for WooCommerce and click Install Now, then Activate.
  4. The WooCommerce Setup Wizard launches automatically. Follow each step:

Store Setup Wizard

  • Store Details: Enter your business address, currency, and product type (physical, digital, or both).
  • Payment: Enable payment gateways. GoSiteMe recommends Stripe for credit cards and PayPal for alternative payments. Enter your API keys for each gateway.
  • Shipping: Configure shipping zones, methods (flat rate, free shipping, local pickup), and rates. For real-time carrier rates, install the appropriate shipping plugin.
  • Tax: Enable automated tax calculation. WooCommerce can use your store address to apply the correct tax rates, or you can install a tax service like TaxJar.

Adding Your First Product

  1. Go to Products → Add New.
  2. Enter a product name and description.
  3. Set the price in the Product Data section.
  4. Upload product images—use high-quality images (at least 800×800px).
  5. Assign a category and add tags for discoverability.
  6. Click Publish.

Essential WooCommerce Settings

  • Permalink structure: Go to Settings → Permalinks and select "Post name" for clean URLs.
  • Email notifications: Under WooCommerce → Settings → Emails, customize order confirmation, shipping, and refund emails.
  • Checkout page: Test the full checkout flow on both desktop and mobile before launching.

Performance on GoSiteMe

GoSiteMe's hosting is optimized for WooCommerce with:

  • Object caching via Redis for fast database queries.
  • CDN integration for global asset delivery.
  • PHP 8.3 with OPcache for maximum performance.
  • Automatic image optimization on upload.
