And on the six days of the second week we brought, according to the word of God, unto Adam all the beasts and all the cattle and all the birds and everything that moves on the earth.

And on the first day of the third week, He brought her to Adam, and he knew her. And the Lord said: It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make for him a helpmeet.

And the Lord cast a deep sleep upon him, and he slept. And He took from him a rib from among his ribs, and closed up flesh in its place.

And He built the rib which He had taken from the man into a woman, and He brought her to the man, and he said: This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called wife, because she was taken out of man.

And Adam and his wife were both naked, and they were not ashamed. And the Lord commanded them not to eat from the tree of knowledge, but from all the other trees they might eat.

And the serpent, which was more subtle than any beast of the field, came unto the woman and said: Hath God really said ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

And the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was pleasant to the eyes and was desirable to make one wise. And she took of the fruit thereof and did eat, and she gave also unto her husband, and he did eat.

And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves girdles.
