After I had passed the beast, I went forward about thirty feet, and lo! a virgin met me, arrayed as if she were going forth from a bridal-chamber, all in white and with white sandals, veiled up to her forehead.
2
And she said: Hermas, hail! And I greeted her and said: Lady, hail! She answered and said: Did nothing meet thee? I say to her: Lady, such a wild beast that could have destroyed whole nations; but by the power of the Lord and by His great mercy, I escaped it.
3
She said: Thou didst escape well, because thou didst cast thy care upon God, and didst open thy heart to the Lord, believing that thou canst be saved by nothing else than by His great and glorious Name.
