1
Be thou long-suffering and understanding, he said, and thou shalt have the mastery over all evil deeds, and shalt work all righteousness.
2
For if thou art long-suffering, the Holy Spirit that abideth in thee shall be pure, not being darkened by another evil spirit, but dwelling in a large room shall rejoice and be glad with the vessel in which he dwelleth.
3
But when angry temper approacheth, first of all the Holy Spirit, being delicate, is straitened, not having clear room, and seeketh to retire from the place; for he is being choked by the evil spirit.
4
But if both the spirits dwell together, it is unfortunate for that man in whom they dwell. Put away therefore from thyself sadness, and afflict not the Holy Spirit which dwelleth in thee, lest He entreat God and depart from thee.
