Ascension of Isaiah 3
1
And after this the adversary Beliar was envious of Isaiah, and he dwelt in the heart of Manasseh, and he sawed Isaiah in sunder with a tree-saw.
2
And when Isaiah was being sawed in sunder, his accuser Belchira stood by, and all the false prophets stood by, laughing and rejoicing because of Isaiah.
3
And Belchira, by the instigation of Mekembecus, stood by Isaiah, mocking him and saying:
4
Say: I have lied in all that I have spoken, and the ways of Manasseh are good and right, and also the ways of Belchira and those who are with him are good.
5
And this he said to him when he began to be sawed in sunder. But Isaiah was absorbed in a vision of the Lord, and though his eyes were open he saw them not.
6
And Belchira spoke thus to Isaiah: Say what I say to thee, and I will turn their heart and will compel Manasseh and the princes of Judah and the people and all Jerusalem to honour thee.
7
And Isaiah answered and said: So far as I have utterance I say: Damned and cursed be thou and all thy powers and all thy house.
8
For thou canst not take from me aught save the skin of my body.
9
And they seized and sawed in sunder Isaiah the son of Amoz with a wooden saw. And Manasseh and Belchira and the false prophets and the princes and the people and all stood looking on.
10
And to the prophets who were with him he said before he was sawed in sunder: Go ye to the region of Tyre and Sidon; for for me only God has mixed the cup.
11
And whilst Isaiah was being sawed in sunder, he neither cried aloud nor wept, but his lips spoke with the Holy Spirit until he was sawed in two.
12
This did Beliar do to Isaiah through Belchira and through Manasseh; for Sammael was very angry with Isaiah from the days of Hezekiah king of Judah on account of the things he had seen concerning the Beloved.
