And in the middle of the plain he showed me a great white rock which had risen out of the plain. The rock was higher than the mountains, and was foursquare, so as to be able to contain the whole world.
2
And the rock was old, and a gate was hewn out of it, and the gate seemed to me to be of recent hewing. And the gate glistened beyond the brightness of the sun, so that I marvelled at the brightness of the gate.
3
And around the gate stood twelve virgins. The four who stood at the corners seemed to me to be more glorious than the others.
4
The names of the virgins are these: the first is Faith, the second Continence, the third Power, the fourth Patience. And the others between them have these names: Simplicity, Guilelessness, Purity, Cheerfulness, Truth, Understanding, Concord, and Love.
5
He that beareth these names and the name of the Son of God shall be able to enter into the kingdom of God.
