114 chapters The 14 Chosen Books (Restored) AUTHORIZED APRIL 8, 2026 A.D.
← Mission Dashboard
1 As I walked in the field, and noticed an elm and a vine and was contemplating them and their fruits, the shepherd appeared to me and said: What meditatest thou upon? I said: I am thinking about the elm and the vine, that they are excellently suited one to the other.
2 The shepherd said: These two trees are a type for the servants of God. I would fain know, sir, the type contained in these trees.
3 Seest thou, he said, the elm and the vine? I see them, sir, I say. This vine, he said, beareth fruit, but the elm is an unfruitful tree. Yet this vine, except it climb up the elm, cannot bear fruit of itself but only if it be spread upon the ground.
4 So thou seest that the elm also beareth much fruit, not less than the vine, but rather more. How more, sir? I say. Because, he said, the vine when hung upon the elm bears its fruit in abundance and in good condition; but when spread on the ground, it beareth little fruit and that rotten.
5 This similitude therefore is for the servants of God, for the poor man and the rich. The rich man hath much wealth, but in the things of the Lord he is poor, being distracted about his riches. But the poor man, being rich in intercession and confession, his prayer hath great power with God.
